Ambulatory care clinical pharmacists are often responsible for recognizing and managing common nutritional and gastroenterologic conditions in their patients. Nutritional/GI Care presents evidence-based updates on the management of a variety of nutritional and gastroenterologic disorders; practical information regarding diagnosis of these conditions; and the recommended treatments and associated toxicities. The modules cover treatment guidelines from a variety of organizations and publications, as well as nonpharmacologic remedies.

Michelle T. Martin, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCACP

The book contains three learning modules with a total available 15.5 continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. The content of Nutritional/GI Care was developed under the leadership of Faculty Panel Chair Michelle T. Martin, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCACP.

Chapters in the first module focus on nutritional supplements in older adults; nutrition in patients who have undergone bariatric surgery; and billing and reimbursement for clinical pharmacy services. The second module provides updates on the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as the management of inflammatory bowel disease and the role of specialty pharmacy. The third module addresses the rapidly growing problem of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease; a separate chapter offers insight on drug information and electronic resources.

Each ACSAP release includes two full-color online formats: (1) interactive PDFs you can save to your desktop or print; and (2) an e-media version you can view on an e-reader, tablet, iOS or Android smart phone.

ACSAP chapters are fully referenced, with clickable hyperlinks to literature compilers such as PubMed. Other links provide ready access to clinical practice guidelines, official recommendations, and patient assessment tools. Graphic features focus on pivotal studies, patient care scenarios, and take-home points that can be readily integrated into clinical practice.
