For 2026, the Cardiology Self-Assessment Program (CardSAP) provides evidence-based updates that are essential for clinicians who aim to stay at the forefront of cardiovascular pharmacotherapy and the delivery of personalized, patient-centered care. The target audience for CardSAP 2026 is board-certified cardiology pharmacy specialists and advanced practitioners specializing in cardiovascular care.
The 2026 CardSAP release comprises 9 learning activities offering a total of TBD available continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. Each activity may be taken separately for BCCP credits; November 16, 2027, is the deadline to submit a required post-test for recertification credit. The book was developed under the leadership of Faculty Panel Chair John Lindsley, Pharm.D., BCCP, BCCCP, AACC.
CardSAP content explores emerging and high-yield topics that reflect evolving practice such as updates to ACLS and Atrial Fibrillation Guidelines. The chapters also cover complex topics associated with atrial fibrillation management including rhythm control, lifestyle modifications and challenging anticoagulation scenarios. This CardSAP will also cover review the management of cardiogenic shock and peri-operative medication management for cardiovascular surgery. Lastly, the book includes a chapter focused on literature evaluation in common antithrombotic clinical studies; and a chapter highlighting opportunities for antithrombotic stewardship.
Each CardSAP release has continuing education activities that cover the most recent published data (past 3–5 years) on a specific therapeutic area or patient-care problem. This content is provided as a full-color electronic book (interactive PDF) with high-level updates in up to three possible formats as best suits the topic delivery:
- Traditional review-style chapters
- Case series (a feature that has major sections of learning content bookended by a sample case and its explained answer)
- Recorded webcast (a PowerPoint presentation provided as an MP4 file as well as a PDF of slides and transcribed narrative)
CardSAP chapters and features are fully referenced, with clickable hyperlinks to literature compilers such as PubMed. Other links provide ready access to clinical practice guidelines, official recommendations, and patient assessment tools. Graphics focus on pivotal studies, patient care scenarios, and take-home points that can be readily integrated into clinical practice. Included with every purchase is an e-media version you can view on an e-reader, tablet, and iOS or Android smart phone.
