ACCP remains dedicated to creating and sustaining a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). The organization’s work began in 2020, followed by the publication of the 2021 Strategic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan and the 2023 Strategic Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Plan, which continue to guide ACCP’s efforts to strengthen inclusion and representation across the College.
Since 2020, ACCP members, staff, committees, and PRNs have collaborated to advance organizational DEIA goals, expand support for underrepresented groups, and increase transparency in reporting progress. ACCP’s DEIA Progress Report remains available to members as an easily searchable, frequently updated document on the DEIA webpage.
Affinity Groups: A Major Milestone Toward Inclusion
One of the most significant advances this year is the implementation of ACCP Affinity Groups, officially launched during the 2025 ACCP Annual Meeting. Affinity Groups create identity‑affirming spaces for members who share similar social identity frameworks—distinct from PRNs, which are centered on clinical or research interests.
ACCP is excited to announce the formation and approval of its first 2 official Affinity Groups:
- Black Diaspora Affinity Group
- Middle Eastern North African (MENA) Affinity Group
These inaugural groups represent a significant step forward in fostering belonging, amplifying lived experiences, and building community among members with shared identities. Members who identify with these groups—or who wish to propose a new Affinity Group—may visit www.accp.com/affinity/.
Ongoing DEIA Initiatives
ACCP continues to expand and enhance DEIA-driven programming, including an educational module available within each member profile and annual programming at the ACCP Annual Meeting. The 2025 Annual Meeting session was focused on Pharmacoequity, and the upcoming 2026 session is under development with plans to focus on medication access.
Five DEIA travel awards were provided for the Annual Meeting in both 2024 and 2025. The 2026 application process will open in June—please encourage residents, fellows, graduate students, and new practitioners (< 6 years since terminal degree) to apply.
Each ACCP member is encouraged to routinely access and use the ACCP Value Filters in the course of their work with (and outside of) the College. These filters provide a series of questions to allow users to consider decisions and initiatives in the context of the College’s values.
