New Study Invitation: Atypical Antipsychotics Use and Outcomes

What: Cross-sectional survey of 25 clinician pairs (pharmacists and psychiatrists) in settings that provide care to adult patients with schizophrenia spectrum and/or bipolar disorders
Where: Outpatient psychiatric clinic settings
How: Complete online survey using SurveyMonkey in less than 1 hour

The ACCP Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) invites all ACCP members practicing in outpatient psychiatric clinic settings with responsibilities that include providing care for patients with schizophrenia spectrum and/or bipolar disorder at least 10 hours per week to consider participating in a survey-based research study. The survey will be administered to 25 ACCP clinical pharmacists and a psychiatric physician within each of their practice settings. The goals of this study are to assess how prescriber beliefs affect the choice of antipsychotic therapy in the treatment of patients with schizophrenia spectrum and/or bipolar disorder. In addition to prescriber perceptions, the survey will solicit how institutional polices designed to influence selection of therapies affects the choice of therapy.

Survey Eligibility Criteria

  1. Pharmacist is interested in participating in the survey on behalf of his/her site.
  2. Pharmacist practices in an outpatient psychiatric clinic setting where adult patients with schizophrenia spectrum and/or bipolar disorders receive care.
  3. Pharmacist’s clinical practice involves care of patients for at least 10 hours per week.
  4. Pharmacist can identify a clinical psychiatrist at his/her site to participate with as a pair in the survey.
