Chair, Pharmacotherapy Board of Directors
The Pharmacotherapy Publications, Inc. (PPI) Board of Directors is pleased to announce several programs that will be showcased at the ACCP Annual Meeting in Phoenix, October 7–10, 2017. These programs will develop and enhance the scientific writing and scholarly pursuits of early and established practitioners.
PPI and the ACCP Research Institute (RI) have created a scientific writing workshop to be held Saturday, October 7, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Attendees will learn from three writing experts and participate in activities to develop and refine their poster abstract and manuscript submissions.
At the ACCP Business and Town Hall Meeting, to be held Sunday, October 8, 2:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., Pharmacotherapy’s editor-in-chief Lindsay DeVane will report on the state of the journal.
ACCP will also cohost a joint PPI/RI Open House during the poster presentations on Monday, October 9, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 a.m. This session will allow attendees to meet with members of the PPI Board of Directors and Scientific Editorial Council and learn how to get more involved with Pharmacotherapy, ACCP’s official journal. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact and receive information in a small-group/roundtable format on the following topics:
- Developing manuscripts of interest
- Serving as a Pharmacotherapy reviewer
- Bringing questions to ask the editor
- Becoming a Pharmacotherapy Editorial Board member
On Tuesday, October 10, 10:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., PPI will host an encore presentation of the 2016 ACCP
Annual Meeting program titled “Fundamentals of Providing Excellent Peer Reviews.” During this active learning session led by Pharmacotherapy scientific editor Stuart T. Haines, attendees will develop skills in constructing peer reviews, providing appropriate feedback to editors regarding acceptability, and determining when to decline an invitation to review.
In addition to the many programs highlighted above, the Pharmacotherapy Scientific Editors Council and the Pharmacotherapy Editorial Board will hold business meetings at the ACCP Annual Meeting.
We encourage all Annual Meeting attendees to participate in these sessions to learn how to improve their scientific writing skills and get involved as a scientific author, reviewer, and scholar. More importantly, participants will learn why they should aspire to publish their scholarly works in Pharmacotherapy.
