The Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP), established in 1977, is a collaboration of 13 national pharmacy organizations representing pharmacists in diverse practice settings who are focused on fulfilling JCPP’s vision that patients achieve optimal health and medication outcomes with pharmacists as essential and accountable providers within patient‐centered, team-based health care. JCPP facilitates effective representation of pharmacists on professional, educational, legislative, and regulatory issues through analysis, interpretation, communication, and exchange of views on relevant issues. JCPP serves as a forum on matters of common interest and concern to national organizations of pharmacy practitioners and invited liaison members.
JCPP meets quarterly. and the practitioner organizations chair and host meetings on a rotational basis. JCPP representatives consist of the chief elected and executive officers of the member organizations.

JCPP Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process
In 2013–2014, the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process was developed by a group of 10 national pharmacy organizations, including ACCP, under JCPP’s direction. The pharmacists’ patient care process aligns with the patient care processes of other health care professionals; at the same time, this process details the unique medication-related aspects of pharmacy practice. This document, developed over a 2-year period, involved an examination of key pharmacy source documents and several comment periods for the organizations to produce the final document, approved May 29, 2014.
Medication Management Services Definition
Medication Management Services are a spectrum of patient-centered, pharmacist-provided, collaborative services that focus on medication appropriateness, effectiveness, safety, and adherence with the goal of improving health outcomes.
In 2018, JCPP approved a revised and expanded definition and term for the pharmacy profession’s original Medication Therapy Management Services definition to better align with contemporary pharmacy practice: Medication Management Services (MMS). ACCP actively participated in a working group of representatives from 13 national pharmacy organizations to develop this definition for consideration and approval by JCPP. The process included an examination of existing terms and definitions and their use in traditional and evolving health care delivery models, development of a conceptual framework for medication-related services, and release of a draft definition for feedback.
