The 2025 ACCP Annual Meeting keynote promises to be unforgettable. Alex Sheen, founder of the global movement because I said I would, will deliver a deeply personal and powerful address titled “because I said I would: The Importance of a Promise.”

For clinical pharmacists, this message carries special weight. Sheen’s inspiration for the movement came from his father—a pharmacist. “My father was an average man,” he says. “No war hero. No fame. He was a pharmacist. But he did one thing exceptionally well: he kept his promises.” After his father died of small cell lung cancer in 2012, Sheen gave a eulogy that sparked a global movement. He handed out the first “Promise Cards” that day, encouraging people to write down and honor their commitments. Since then, over 15 million Promise Cards have been distributed in 178   Articlecountries, helping people live with greater integrity and purpose.

Sheen is a 5-time TEDx speaker and author, as well as a humanitarian whose work has touched millions. His story and message have been featured on the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, CNN, and more. His keynote will challenge us to reflect on the promises we make—to our patients, our colleagues, and ourselves. His story is a tribute to the quiet strength and everyday heroism of pharmacists and a reminder that our word is one of the most powerful tools we have.
