ACCP Report

Board of Regents Votes to Approve Political Action Committee Governing Council

At its April 22–23 meeting, the ACCP Board of Regents (BOR) voted to approve the formation of the initial Governing Council of the ACCP Political Action Committee (PAC). The first ACCP-PAC Governing Council will include the following ACCP members and staff:

Chair: Leigh Ann Ross, Pharm.D., BCPS
Treasurer: Gary R. Matzke, Pharm.D., FCP, FCCP, FASN, DPNAP
Secretary: John McGlew, ACCP Associate Director of Government Affairs
Member: Anna Legreid Dopp, Pharm.D.
Member: Board of Regents Liaison (to be appointed by the BOR in July)

The purpose of the ACCP-PAC Governing Council is to provide oversight of and strategic input to the operations of the ACCP-PAC, with focuses on fundraising activities and decisions about which candidates to support.

The Council members will serve a 2-year term, mirroring 2-year congressional cycles. The establishment of the initial Governing Council is a vital step in the process of formally launching the PAC. The Federal Election Commission—the federal regulator of campaigns and elections—requires the names of the PAC officers before a PAC can formally register.

In the coming months, ACCP staff in Washington will continue the process of establishing and launching the PAC in preparation for the formal rollout of the PAC at the ACCP Annual Meeting in Austin this October.
