ACCP Research Institute to Initiate New Bioanalytical Tissue and Sample Analysis Grant

The Research Institute is pleased to announce that, in winter 2009, a new funding opportunity for full and associate ACCP members is coming. The PPD Bioanalytical Fluid and Tissue Sample Grant Award supports the bioanalytical research efforts of ACCP member researchers. The primary purpose of this in-kind support grant is to allow ACCP members the use of state-of-the-art PPD laboratory facilities in either Richmond, Virginia, or Madison, Wisconsin, for conducting their sample analyses. The ideal candidates have stored samples ready for analysis. Investigators will experience firsthand their samples being assayed at an excellent laboratory facility in a dynamic and active learning environment.

PPD is a leading global contract research organization (CRO) providing discovery, development, and post-approval services as well as compound partnering programs. PPD’s clients and partners include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and academic and government organizations. This grant was established by Fred Eshelman, Pharm.D., a long-time member of ACCP and former Trustee of the Research Institute, who is also founder and CEO of PPD.

The call for applications will be posted in fall 2008, and an announcement will appear in next month’s issue of the ACCP Report and on the ACCP Web site. It is anticipated that the first deadline for applications will be December 15, 2008. ACCP and PPD will jointly review submitted grant applications and work with awardees to coordinate respective schedules and assay procedures. The Research Institute expresses its sincere thanks to PPD for offering ACCP members this unique professional development opportunity.
