ACCP Graduation Cords Program

ACCP is pleased to announce the opportunity for formal recognition of student members with graduation cords to be worn during commencement ceremonies as part of graduation regalia. These cords represent students who have shown exceptional dedication to ACCP and personal growth in the realm of clinical pharmacy. Students who meet the eligibility criteria may apply for graduation cord recognition online. Eligibility for receipt of graduation cords must be confirmed by your ACCP College of Pharmacy Faculty Liaison. Once approved, students will receive instructions on how to direct order their graduation cords from the ACCP approved vendor. ACCP does not cover the costs of graduation cords.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for ACCP recognition cords, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a current ACCP member at the time of graduation.
  • Accumulate at least 7 points using this scoring rubric at the time of graduation. Students can earn points by participating in ACCP-affiliated events listed below.
  • Eligibility for receipt of graduation cords must be confirmed by your ACCP College of Pharmacy Faculty Liaison.

Eligibility Rubric

Item: ACCP National or Local/Regional Conference Attendance
Scoring Guidelines:

Award 1 point/year for local/regional chapter conference attendance (Note: Student chapter meetings or local/regional chapter general meetings do not satisfy this requirement)

Award 2 points/year for national conference attendance (e.g., ACCP Annual Meeting or Spring Forum)

Points: 3 pts per year

Scoring Guidelines:

Award 1 point for participation in a local round of the ACCP Clinical Research Challenge

Award 2 points for being selected to your institution’s Clinical Research Challenge team

Award 1 point/year for service on an ACCP student chapter or local/regional chapter executive board or other leadership position (e.g., local student chapter chair position) for at least 1 full year

Award 2 points/year for service in a national position within ACCP (e.g., National Student Network Advisory Committee)

Points: 3 pts per year
Item: ACCP Practice and Research Network (PRN) Participation
Scoring Guidelines:

Award 1 point for membership in one or more ACCP PRNs

Award 2 points for committee or leadership service within one or more ACCP PRNs

Applying for ACCP Graduation Cord Recognition


Students who meet the eligibility criteria outlined above may enter an application online at the link below. Student applicants will be directed to complete the outlined eligibility rubric online and those students achieving a score of 7 or greater will be eligible to receive graduation cord recognition. The deadline to submit an online graduation cord application is March 10. Eligibility for receipt of graduation cords must be confirmed by your ACCP College of Pharmacy Faculty Liaison.

Q: Can I Save a Partially Completed Graduation Cord Application?

A: Yes. The Graduation Cord Application Portal is designed to enable you to save a partially completed application. You may complete a portion or the entire application and come back to your application to make changes up until the time you select to submit it.

Q: What if My Institution Does Not Have a Designation ACCP College of Pharmacy Faculty Liaison?

A: If you do not find a faculty member listed for your institution, please email [email protected] with the name of a local faculty member ACCP staff may contact to arrange review of your graduation cord application.
