ACCP Student Travel Awards

ACCP offers travel stipends to help defray the costs students incur when attending the ACCP national meeting. Student Travel Awards are administered through the ACCP Foundation and funded by the Student Travel Award Fund.

How to Apply

ACCP student members in good standing who are full-time students pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree at an accredited college or school of pharmacy are invited to apply.

Applicants should submit:

  • A completed online application
  • A CV or resume
  • Two letters of recommendation from a clinical pharmacy practitioner or faculty member
  • A personal essay of no more than 500 words describing the applicant’s interest in ACCP and objectives for attending the national meeting

PRN Student Travel Awards

In addition to ACCP Student Travel Awards, the following PRNs also provide travel awards to defray costs associated with attending the ACCP national meeting. Please see below for more information about each travel award, including eligibility and application deadlines.

Adult Medicine

Description

$1000 award to provide an opportunity for a pharmacy student to present and promote their research efforts to the Adult Medicine PRN.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Enrolled in a school or college of pharmacy.
  • ACCP student member in good standing.
  • Adult Medicine PRN member.
  • Initiated the project during pharmacy school.
  • Conducted research in an area applicable to adult medicine.
  • Anticipate project completion by the ACCP Annual Meeting.
  • Abstract submitted for presentation at the ACCP Annual Meeting.
  • Committed to present brief summary of results (live and/or as a poster presentation) at the Adult Medicine PRN business meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting.
  • Awardees will be selected pending acceptance of abstract for presentation at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Application Procedures:
  • Submit an abstract (using ACCP guidelines at www.accp.com) to the chair of the Adult Medicine PRN Training and Travel Awards Committee.
  • Submit a brief statement (250-word max) highlighting your interest in clinical pharmacy practice (include your name, graduation year, and school or college of pharmacy). In this statement, please also state where you heard about this award.
  • Submit current copy of your Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Please submit the abstract and statement in one combined Word Document or PDF. When saving your file, please include the award type (i.e. Student Travel and Registration Research Award) and your full name in the file name. You must also submit the abstract through the ACCP website.

Ambulatory Care

Description

The Ambulatory Care PRN student travel award will help support the costs associated with travel and attendance to the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria: 1) Full-time pharmacy student pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree; 2) Student member of ACCP; 3) Willing to attend the Ambulatory Care PRN Business and Networking Forum at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Application Requirements

Provide in one email the following documents: 1) Curriculum Vitae. Specific items to include if applicable: a) ACCP involvement (i.e. ACCP committees (including StuNet), PRN membership, attendance at meetings, attendance at PRN meetings, participation in the ACCP clinical pharmacy challenge, research poster presentation, including all School/College level ACCP involvement) Other professional organization involvement/leadership including School/College group/committee/board; b) Participation in other professional competitions; c) Publications, poster presentations, and other scholarly projects (DUE, QI); d) Community service/volunteer work 2) Letter of support from a current faculty member at the applicant’s school, mentor, or preceptor. Cardiology

Description

The Cardiology PRN will award two travel grants of $750 each to support the costs associated with the ACCP Annual Meeting in November 2023. One grant will be dedicated to a full-time student pharmacist with an interest in cardiology who is pursuing their Doctor of Pharmacy degree. One grant will be dedicated to a post-graduate trainee (i.e., residency, fellowship) with an interest or focus in cardiology, who is still in training or has completed training within the past 6 months.

Eligibility

Candidates must be current members of ACCP and the Cardiology PRN who are either:  Full-time pharmacy students pursuing their Doctor of Pharmacy degree  Post-graduate trainees currently in training or have completed training within the past 12 months, in a residency or fellowship program.

Application Requirements

Each applicant may submit only one application in consideration for this award. Please submit a current curriculum vitae, two letters of reference, and a one-page letter of intent (LOI). In the LOI state your interest in cardiology (and/or the Cardiology PRN), reasons for attending the ACCP Annual Meeting, and describe any abstracts (research, cases, systematic reviews, research in progress, etc) you submitted to present at the ACCP Annual Meeting. If the awardee has an abstract accepted, in addition to presenting at the poster session(s), the awardee will have the opportunity to present at the ACCP Cardiology PRN annual business meeting. All application materials should be submitted via email to Dr. Lindsey Federle. A selection committee organized by the current chair of the Cardiology PRN’s Student and Trainee Committee, Dr. Joshua Jacobs, will select award recipients based on a pre-determined scoring system. Those awarded a Student or ACCP travel award will not be eligible for a Cardiology PRN award. Applicants will be responsible for the initial cost of meeting expenses and reimbursed following the completion of the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Central Nervous System

Description

The Central Nervous System (CNS) PRN will be offering up to two Trainee Travel Awards to attend the 2023 ACCP Annual Meeting.

Drug Information

Description

The Drug Information PRN will be offering a travel award in the amount of $1,000 for one student who will be presenting a drug information-related poster or research at the ACCP Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX on November 11 -14, 2023.

Applicants for this award should be a member of the DI PRN, a full-time pharmacy student pursuing his/her first professional pharmacy degree, and will be presenting a drug information-related poster or research at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Applicants must agree to attend and give a 10-minute presentation at the DI PRN business meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Geriatrics

Description

The Geriatrics PRN will award two (2) travel grants to partially support the expenses associated with attendance and travel to the 2023 ACCP Global Conference on Clinical Pharmacy for student pharmacists with an interest in geriatrics or who may be considering geriatric training.

Health Outcomes

Description

HIV

Description

This award acknowledges a pharmacy student who has shown an interest in HIV through clinical experiences, research, and/or publications in HIV. In addition, the trainee should maintain high standards of professionalism, promote pharmacy education and excellence in clinical practice, and serve as a role model for others. This award is intended to assist with costs travel, lodging, and registration for the meeting. There are 1-2 travel awards available total for students and resident/fellow trainees, subject to available funds.

Eligibility

The Nominee must be enrolled in an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy. The Nominee must be an ACCP trainee (student, resident, or fellow) member in good standing. The Nominee must be an HIV PRN member who is able to attend the HIV PRN Business and Networking Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting to present. Trainees who have been the recipient of a previous HIV PRN Travel Award are not eligible.

● Updated curriculum vitae ● Personal statement from the nominee describing their interests and goals ● One letter of recommendation from a faculty member, advisor, mentor, program director (who may either be a member or nonmember of ACCP) from the nominee’s institution attesting to the clinical or academic performance of the nominee. All letters of support should clearly document the nominee’s desire to pursue a career in the field of HIV, and any additional information that distinguishes the nominee.

Infectious Diseases

Description

Distinguished Trainee Award This award will be given to 2 students who have shown an interest in infectious diseases through research and/or publications. In addition, a distinguished trainee should maintain high standards of professionalism, promote pharmacy education and excellence in clinical practice, and serve as a role model for other students, residents, and fellows.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a current ACCP ID PRN member and a trainee or not more than 6 months removed from terminal degree/training at the time of the ACCP Annual Meeting in October (e.g., PGY2 residents completing training in July are eligible). They must also have conducted research in an area applicable to infectious diseases and be presenting that research as the primary author at the ACCP annual meeting.

Application Requirements

Updated curriculum vitae (including infectious diseases related experiences, such as enrollment in infectious diseases elective courses, infectious diseases rotation experiences, awards, research involvement, formal presentations, publications, and all ACCP-related experience(s) and memberships) ● Personal statement from the nominee describing their interests and goals ● One letter of recommendation from one colleague or supervisor (who may either be a member or nonmember of ACCP) from the nominee’s institution attesting to the clinical performance of the nominee. The personal statement and letter of recommendation should clearly document the nominee’s desire to pursue a career involving practice, research and education in the field of infectious diseases, and any additional information that distinguishes the nominee.

Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics/Pharmacogenomics

Description

The M. Kelli Jordan Travel Award provides an opportunity for one pharmacy student, resident, or fellow to present and promote his or her current research efforts to the PK/PD/PG PRN. This award will support registration and travel expenses for the ACCP Annual Meeting scheduled for November 11 – 14, 2023. This travel award was instituted in memory of M. Kelli Jordan. Kelli completed her residency training at the National Institutes of Health and had just begun her Pharmacometrics Fellowship at the University of Buffalo with Dr. Alan Forrest when she was diagnosed with cancer. Kelli passed away in December 2001.

Preference will be given to attendees presenting research or an educational session, first-time Annual Meeting. Award recipients will be required to present their research or to present on their choice of pulmonary topic to the PRN membership via webinar following the Annual Meeting.

Application Requirements

Award recipient will be selected by the Pulmonary PRN Nominations & Awards Committee. Application consists of: (1) completed application form, (2) current curriculum vitae, (3) one-page letter highlighting interest, career goals related to pulmonary pharmacy, if any research has been submitted/accepted for the Annual Meeting and the topic you would present on at the business meeting if selected, and (4) one letter of recommendation from a clinical pharmacist or faculty.
