Clinical Reasoning Series Now Available for Home Study

Earn recertification and/or continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit in Pharmacotherapy, Critical Care, or Pediatric Pharmacy through the ACCP Clinical Reasoning Series home study editions. Designed to explore cutting-edge, contemporary therapeutic topics while demonstrating scientifically sound clinical reasoning and decision-making, each program is part of a Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS)-approved professional development program for BCPSs, BCCCPs, or BCPPSs. All Clinical Reasoning Series home study editions are two-part application-based activities consisting of online streaming presentations, downloadable mp3 audio and mp4 video files, downloadable PDF presentation slides, and web-based posttests.

The BCPS home study edition consists of two 3-hour segments and offers up to 6.0 credit hours. Part One: Updates in Management of Atrial Fibrillation explores the evolving clinical evidence for rate versus rhythm control in atrial fibrillation treatment, provides an overview of the evolving definition of valvular atrial fibrillation, notes the patient characteristics that support early rhythm-control therapy, and discusses an anticoagulation regimen for valvular atrial fibrillation treatment. Part Two: Considerations for Anticoagulation in Unique Populations and Scenarios explores prophylaxis and left ventricular thrombus treatment guidelines, off-label use of DOACs, anticoagulant regulatory and safety considerations, and the role of anticoagulants in niche patient populations, including safety and risk mitigation strategies with anticoagulant agents. The BCCCP home study edition consists of two 3-hour segments and offers up to 6.0 credit hours. Part One: Endocrine Resuscitation in Septic Shock explores the role of the endocrine system in the pathogenesis of sepsis, hormone supplementation as a therapeutic intervention, and catecholamine-sparing hemodynamic management strategies. Part Two: Alternative Therapeutics for Septic Shock explores the immunology of sepsis, the therapeutics to mitigate inflammation, and the pipeline of novel agents for the treatment of sepsis.
