A Closer Look at the Community-Based PRN

Overview

The Community-Based Practice and Research Network provides a forum for meeting the unique needs of ACCP members practicing in community settings. Specifically, this PRN aims to advance community-based pharmacy practice by enhancing collaboration, providing networking, developing high-quality educational programming focused on the needs of community-based pharmacists, and supporting research focused on optimizing patient outcomes through community pharmacy–based initiatives.

PRN Committees (students, residents, and fellows welcome)

  • Awards & Nominations Committee: responsible for soliciting nominations for PRN officer positions and PRN awards as well as ACCP elected positions, awards, and honors
  • Communications Committee: responsible for developing and distributing PRN communications, including, but not limited to, our quarterly newsletter, ACCP opinion/white papers, and social media outreach
  • Membership Committee: responsible for developing and implementing member recruitment and retention strategies
  • Programming Committee: responsible for planning and coordinating year-round programming and the PRN Focus Session at the ACCP Global Conference/Annual Meeting

The Community-Based PRN is made up of both practitioners and researchers aiming to make a positive impact on community pharmacy and the patients we serve. Shared goals have created the opportunity for connections within the PRN to help pharmacists build new clinical services within their pharmacies according to researched outcomes. Many of our members are engaged in state-level legislative initiatives focused on improved patient access to pharmacist-provided clinical services.

Opportunities and Resources for Resident and Fellow PRN Members

All PRN members are encouraged to be involved with the PRN’s committees. Students often engage by writing articles to support our Quarterly Dose Newsletter. Residents and fellows often support the committees with their unique perspectives to help shape the future direction of the PRN.

The PRN has started its second ad hoc committee, which is working on the second PRN opinion paper for the PRN.
