Chair 2022-2023 ACCP National Student Network Advisory Committee

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy was founded in 1979 and strives to provide a professional society that promotes creativity and collaboration for pharmacy students of all levels. Joining and becoming involved in national organizations, such as ACCP, can help students to navigate the ever-expanding field of pharmacy. In our organization, you can find various leadership opportunities, professional development tools, and educational resources to guide you as you transition from student to professional. Above all, ACCP provides a community for individuals to create meaningful connections, share experiences, and support each other.

When interviewing for pharmacy school I heard time and time again that pharmacy is a small world. Once classes started, I attended my college’s student organization showcase and suddenly felt that the field of pharmacy was anything but small. I am sure I am not alone when I say how overwhelming it can be to navigate the many organizations available on both a local and national level. I relied on the students before me and connected with those who shared similar goals, interests, and motivations as myself. Joining ACCP as a first-year student has brought me mentors, friends, and experiences that I will carry with me and build upon throughout my career.

Our educational and career paths are filled with periods of transition. We transition from didactics to practice experiences, and from learning by watching to learning by doing. After graduation, some may transition into their careers or into post-graduate training. These transitions can be welcomed with excitement, fueled by anticipation, and filled with uncertainty. I chose to become involved in ACCP’s Student Network Advisory Committee (SNAC) with a desire to make these transitions easier for students within the organization by guiding them to the support and resources they need during the periods of transition. ACCP has allowed me to explore different career paths, network with students and pharmacists, and discover opportunities to better myself and the profession. As chair of the SNAC, I plan to maintain and expand the student opportunities that have helped me find my place and fuel my enthusiasm for clinical pharmacy. I hope to give back as much as I have received from this organization, and I look forward to working with other members of this committee to inspire students to take advantage of what ACCP has to offer.

I encourage you to take some time exploring our website! There are many resources available including our variety of Practice Research Networks (PRNs), On Demand CV and Letter of Intent review services, and “how-to” videos to help your local chapter be successful this year. Finally, I recommend participating in our student-based challenges and representing your school on a national level. The community ACCP has established will continue to be cultivated by our generation of learners and I am honored to be a part of such an influential organization. I hope to see many of you at the Global Conference in October!

In the meantime, please feel free to reach out with any questions or even if you just want to say hello!
